Privacy Policy
What data we collect
- Account info: your name, email address, role (student/parent/teacher), and family or teacher-student links.
- Trial campaigns: when you follow one of our campaign links, we use a first-party, HTTP-only cookie for up to 30 days to remember the offer assigned to that browser. If you create an account, that assignment may be linked to your new family to measure trial enrollment, subscription payment, and cancellation. Reports show aggregate campaign results. We do not send these results, student identities, or practice data to advertising platforms.
- Practice recordings: audio (or MIDI) recordings you make of your practice takes, stored so you can play them back later and so they can be analyzed.
- Analysis results: automatically-derived metrics from your recordings -- tempo accuracy, rhythm deviation, dynamics (loudness/trend), rough pitch-stability "weak points," and AI-generated coaching feedback text.
- Practice history: which pieces you're working on, session timestamps/durations, practice plans, and teacher/parent assignments or comments linked to your practice.
How we use it
Your data is used to run the app's core features: generating practice feedback and coaching plans, showing your own progress over time, and giving the teachers/parents you (or your guardian) have linked visibility into your practice activity within your own family or their own studio. Recordings and analysis results are processed by automated audio-analysis code and, for the coaching feedback text, by a third-party AI model provider acting only on our behalf to generate that text.
Who can see your data
Only you, the parent(s)/guardian(s) in your family, and any teacher you or your family has explicitly linked can see your practice data -- enforced by row-level database access rules, not just app-level checks. We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not use your recordings or practice data for advertising.
Minors and parental control
Your optional birth date is stored to check whether parental consent is required for students under 13. It is also used for optional age-based AI wording only after you opt in in Settings. Turning age-based wording off does not delete your birth date.
Optional preferences for newly generated AI feedback. Scores and musical assessment do not change, and saved feedback is not rewritten. Age is not used to infer skill.
If you opt in to age-based wording, only a coarse age band is sent to the AI provider for personalization—not your date of birth or exact age.
Many accounts on this app belong to minors. A parent/guardian who creates or is linked to a minor's account is responsible for supervising that account, and can view, export, or permanently delete the minor's account and its data at any time from Account settings. If you are a minor using this app without a linked parent/guardian account, please ask a parent or guardian to set one up.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your account and practice data for as long as your account is active, so features like progress-over-time charts keep working. You can download a copy of your own data (or, for parents/teachers, the students visible to you) at any time from Account settings ("Download my data"). You can also permanently delete your own account at any time from the same page; deletion removes your profile and everything directly tied to it (recordings, sessions, analysis results, pieces) and cannot be undone. Deleting your own account does not delete your family or other family members' accounts.
Security
We use industry-standard authentication and database access controls to protect your data, but as with any beta software, we cannot guarantee perfect security. Please don't use this app for anything you wouldn't be comfortable storing in an early- stage beta product.
